Welcome to the first Noorstad launch.
All Designs are made by us. Every product reflects our values and aesthetics’s.
Local, Natural & Legible.
This is the core of noorstad and the guiding principles we have committed ourselves to concider in every product and choice.
The perfect place for your drink.
Samsoe is a small sidetable designed for a late afternoon drink or a hot cup of coffee.
The design originates from a small, ornate table we found in an antique shop on the Danish island Samsoe on a holiday years ago.
Hence the name.
Samsoe comes in both aluminium and oak, slightly different proportioned depending on the material.
Every noorstad product is made in Denmark by local manufacturers using local, natural materials whenever possible.
Working locally means that we get to know all our suppliers and that we can follow every step in the production closely. From the wood arriving at the sawmill to the last finishing touches at the workshop.
Massive Douglas pine. Silk like surfaces, perfectly rounded.
Douglas is perfect for soft shapes displaying the characteristic growth rings in the wood.
Depending on the shape and the single piece of timber, every item will have its unique appearance and pattern.
What happens if you bake Douglas at 200 C for about four days in an oven. Thermal modification.
The trick was well known by the vikings. A method to prolong the lifespan of house posts. Natural impregnation using only fire and water.
Solid Douglas _ THM
Loutro is inspired by the fact that we tend to use our sofa for lying down, sleeping and resting just as much as we use it for sitting.
Loutro got its name from a small Cretan bay where we used to spend our holidays years ago. There was nothing there except the sea, the mountains, a few tavernas and a lot of goats. In short – the perfect place to unwind.
We work with natural materials, and when possible with natural finishes as well, allowing things to patinate.
A carefully polished piece of wood, warm wool and cool aluminium appeal to the senses in ways that synthetics never will.

“A sofa is a sofa is a sofa”
In Merité we played with interpreting the almost iconic classic sofa from the 60´ies.
We have taken it apart and put it back together, twisting the proportions, pushing the symmetry and thereby giving it a fresh new appearance.
Merité always comes in combinations of two different colours or fabrics, underlining the difference between the firm shell and the softer inside.
We have decided against the coffee table in the Noorstad product line.
With a single slender leg, the Monopad table can overlap the couch or stand alone as a sculptural and simple side table.
Massive, heavy, solid blocks of oak. The dense and classic character of oak calls for clean and monolithic forms.
We have added as little shape as possible, keeping the feeling of solid wood, yet aiming for different expressions.
The solid squares come in blackened beech as well.
The clean and heavy shapes are treated with linseed oil paint to maintain the rustic character of the timber.
Laag was designed out of the need to decorate in front of large window partitions. Modern homes often have floor to ceiling windows, providing view and airiness but also lacking something as basic as a windowsill.
Laag is a fusion of a table, a shelf and a windowsill and can be used to display art, plants, books etc. without disturbing the view.
Stitch box is a reinterpretation of our grandmothers´ wooden sewing boxes. The place where they kept their needles, thread, loose buttons and small elegant scissors.
All in perfect order and ready for the elaborate mending of clothes.
We love the idea of making things last and really wanted to bring new life to this charming piece of furniture.
In Danish we have the word “enkelt”. It’s the best word to describe our design philosophy. It is, however, difficult to translate the word into English. It means more than simple or subdued and it has more warmth to it than minimal.
